First experience of a displacement on rail of a house in Chatillon sous Bagneux in order to make pass a bypass of the RN 306 from Chatillon to the plateau of Clamart. This film produced by the Seine road and bridge department, explains in detail the technique used. The works are carried out by the company of Christiani and Neilsen. This individual house is the first of a series of fifteen to be moved. First, the fence was removed, the foundations were rebuilt in the new location, and then two tracks were dug on either side of the house. The pavilion, weighing 210 tons, had to be moved about 20 meters by means of a metal frame measuring 19 meters by 11 meters, rolling on rails that gripped the house below the floor. A whole series of main and secondary jacks are put in place to lift the structure and the house. Then on D-Day, in the presence of the notables mayor of Chatillon sous Bagneux and the Prefect of the Seine, the house was moved centimeters by centimeters to its new location with the help of winches. The success of this first translation over 15 m opens the way to other projects of moving houses for the construction of the bypass road.
